Rehabilitation for Economically and Socially Underprivileged Trust- RESCUE PROGRAM, a non-profit 501(C)3 organization, was formed to serve the poor and the needy communities in India to give them hope and a future.
Rescue saw the need for opening a home called Nireekshanalaya (Place of Hope), which meets the needs of body, spirit and mind of some of the over 150,000 street children. These children are without homes and love in Bangalore, India.
About these children:
* 75% are in the age group of 7 to 15 years.
* They lack resources and guidance for a hopeful future.
* They are physically, mentally and/or sexually abused.
Short-term goals:
* To establish relationships with the homeless street children.
* To set up Nireekshanalaya (Place of Hope) to provide street children with loving dorm parents and facilities capable of supplying shelter, nutritious diet, bathing, health care and sleeping.
* To integrate these children into either formal or non-formal educational programs and vocational training.
* To pursue the possibility of emotionally reconciling these children (those who have living parent/s or relatives) with their families through counseling both relatives and children.
Long-term goals:
Rescue plans to go beyond Bangalore into the children’s remote native villages aiding in reuniting the children with their relatives if possible by evaluating what led them to leave their homes. If the reason was primarily economic then Rescue plans to assist in development activities helping the families create alternative income.
