Land and Building Needs
Landlord issues continue to arise such as water being turned off for long periods of time, the children being forced by the landlord to clean-up after his animals and to clean the open sewer by hand (this is a
sanitation workers job and endangers the health of these young children). Rescue leadership is constantly speaking with the landlord in this regard but he continues to look for ways to take advantage of these children. This is clearly exploitation of the children. Rescue did not take these children off the streets to save them from exploitation only to be exploited by the landlords! These street children are looked down upon by landlords as they have a negative image of where they have come from.
The news of exploitation of the children has become a hindrance in building healthy relationships with the children's relatives.
Rescue desires to expand it's program providing:
1)
Accommodations for more street children to live at the Rescue Home
2)
Daytime programs that would allow street children, who for one reason or another do not want to live at Rescue Home, to receive food, education, and encouragement

This is pushing us forward with the need for purchasing property for Rescue and freedom from dealing with landlord issues. Land costs for one acre of land is around $250,000 depending on the distance away from the city. The farther we go outside of Bangalore City the cheaper the property but the less accessible the resources. The cost for a building is approximately an additional $100,000.
This seems like a large sum of money but if 350 people or groups or organizations give a one time gift of $1,000 each, the amount would be covered and the children will have a safe place to stay without concern of being exploited.
